" Cosmos" is like an addiction to me. Carl Sagan is my hero, my idol, my inspiration. If you know me then you must know what Carl Sagan means to me. I used to like Neil de grass Tyson before . But after watching cosmos I instantly became a fan. Of course Carl Sagan was such a great educator and he set the bar so high it is quite impossible to match his teachings, charisma or personality . But NDT has his own way,His passion has undoubtedly captivated people like me.
"Cosmos" (Carl Sagan one) is not just a documentary. It's an ideological manifesto on how to create world peace through science,..its about who we are and our stand in universe . Cosmos will always be
close to my heart.
Now new Cosmos show; I would say great attempt, not as good as the old one. it's a great homage to Carl Sagan, and a must see for us, the internet generation . It's a thought provoking delight.I discovered myself again and again through cosmos, through the teachings of Carl Sagan and now Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
What's the point of knowing all those things? Well, cosmos makes me humble. I like to live in a universe so big, full of billions Galaxies.., and I will like to defy my smallness underneath the sky and wonder..and appreciate the times I have ..There are times when I ponder the far future and all the amazing things I'll never know. Cosmos( both old and new) helped me to understand science better, helped me to connect the dots of the universe. I already watched the old one hundred times.. and also the new one.. will probably watch them all my life. Nothing to tear you up like a good old dose of science and perspective, truth, knowledge.
Alan Sylvestri did such a great job with this. What magical soundtracks he created for cosmos!! Truly masterpiece and divine,.gives you chills and peace..!
.. we are just a peck of a dust in the vastness of the cosmos. Got goosebumps when they showed Carl Sagan's poetic narration of "blue pale dot" in the last episode. YouTube it "pale blue dot cosmos a space time odesssy" if that doesn't move you, then you probably have to rethink your view towards humanity and this beautiful planet.
